I have been busy getting ready for my first public event displaying and selling photographs. Although very exciting, it is also one of the hardest things I have ever done. Part of what is tough is the time it takes to physically put it all together. I have learned a lot in a short amount of time about matting prints. The toughest part for me is the pep talks I keep giving myself. I continue to have big moments of doubt about whether this really ways a very good idea. I finally came to peace with the fact that it is tough but worth it to get out there and stand with my work. Rather than worrying about what I cannot control (will anyone stop to look at or buy prints) I just focused on the importance of the experience. Suddenly, I felt much better and dropped the pressure I had been putting on myself. So in just a couple days I will take a stand and say "here I am, this is what I am about, and here is some of my best work so far."
The Art, Artisan, and Creatives Fair is May 2-3 at The Marketplace at Augusta (Maine, USA). Thanks to all those who have sent words of encouragement, especially those who are unable to be at the event but are following and sharing my work through social channels. You rock! I will try to share a few moments from the weekend on Twitter and Instagram so follow along.
