Climbing a mountain is all about reaching the summit... or is it? The view points along the way are moments to pause, look out at the world below, and know that even when you think you are not making any progress, you are.
Sometimes I have quickly passed a moment like this thinking that I will stop on the way back to make a photograph. My thinking has changed. Why? Because the moment that made me stop is happening now and is worth pausing for. Also, so many times when I make it back to "the spot" I wanted to photograph the light has changed, it has been clouded, or it is just feels different than the way it had when I first looked out.
Now, I make sure to stop and explore the present between the steps of progress.
