Everything Whirling and Flowing

Jlynn Frazier

Nature is ever at work building and pulling down, creating and destroying, keeping everything whirling and flowing, allowing no rest but in rhythmical motion, chasing everything in endless song out of one beautiful form into another.
— John Muir

Today is a day to remember and take special notice of the earth. I continue to believe that in order to protect the natural world we have to encourage each other to get our there to explore and experience the wonder. I know that for me, the more time I spend outside leads to feeling more connected to nature and to a hopeful energetic side that can be stifled at times. The earth never lets me down, always inspires me to slow down to focus on what matters, to take on a new challenge, and to scratch the itch of a new adventure.

Saddened By Destruction

Jlynn Frazier

Change happens by listening and then starting a dialogue with the people who are doing something you don’t believe is right.
— Jane Goodall

I started writing this post last night and hesitated as to what to say and how to say it. I love the beauty of our world, a world that we as humans continue to destroy in ways large and small. As many, many are right now I too am deeply saddened by those responsible for luring Cecil the Lion outside of his safe environment so that he could be shot for a "trophy." I will not recount the details of the kill, the suffering of the animal, and the way the body was treated. You can google Cecil and read the story.

I think what I want to say is that I am glad that this is unsettling to so many. We live in a beautiful world with space for all of us to create habitats to live and thrive. We have to take care of the land and ALL who live here. I think that is what I think this is about. The greed and lust of a few to take the life of Cecil as a prize. This is not what we want for the earth we live on and the earth we hope to pass on.

We must remember that we are mammals and part of the earth. We share it, it is not ours to be so careless and destructive with. Keep the dialog going and challenge yourself to asks the tough questions of others and also of yourself. We must protect all the wild places and all the wild animals that live there. We need to find greater depths to the love and nourishment we can provide. We can do better. WE MUST!
