Reflecting on the Beauty and Challenge of Hiking the AT

Jlynn Frazier

We began with mostly cloudy skies and snow flurries as we hit the Appalachian Trail at Grafton Notch State Park. On our way back along the trail we decided to venture out to visit Table Rock and we were so glad that we did. Though the temperatures were in the mid-thirties the sun was shinning with warmth and a spectacular view.

From clear blue skies to the dark storm clouds. From the shifting change between snow and rain. From warm sunshine to windy cool fronts that blow in just minutes later. The unexpected, the constant change of the landscape, from the weather to the light, that is why I love the mountains.

Consume Experiences: Icy Details

Jlynn Frazier

Every adventure is made up of a series of amazingly awesome moments. Look close and remember the details that make the experience unique and memorable to you. In the moment, it was bitterly cold and I could not think of a better way to share than with the sign from West Peak covered in a thick blanket of ice.

Work to Live

Jlynn Frazier

I work a "9 to 5" that supports the life I want. I work to live. It takes a series of compromises that change and evolve over time. I faced with a choice (and you always have a choice), I choose getting outside to explore and adventure. It is something that matters to me. Alot! It nurtures me. I know so many who have also found this to be true for them. Getting outside in nature will look different for everyone as what we all seek is different. Perhaps you grab a great book to read laying on a blanket under a tree in your backyard. I know this is something I love to do now and again.

We talk a lot in my house about types of adventures. We are always living them and get outside every day. We do try to have adventures where we slow down and just take in the day. Then we have times when we go for epic. These usually involve pushing ourselves to do something that is physically challenging. It has been a little while and we have been talking about an epic adventure we have been wanting to do this year.

This upcoming weekend we plan to make that happen. We will be hiking a range of mountains, including spending time on the Appalachian Trail here in Maine. For now, I will let you take guesses as to where we are headed. An image from the location is below from my last trip there.
