Standing Still

Jlynn Frazier

What did you do today, this week, and this month that mattered? Defining what matters is something that starts from within each of us. It is not something that we do once and never need to do again. Rather, it is an ongoing process that requires repeatedly asking ourselves 'what matters' in order to realign our focus and move forward to carry out the work we know we want to do. We need to do. We MUST do!

It's not easy work, but it is worth every minute of struggle. Why? Because once you declare your intentions you can focus your time, attention, and talent on doing what you need to do to make what matters most a part of your everyday.

I will admit I struggle with this at times as the ebbs and flows of life. I think the struggle is shared by many who strive to carve out time to do great work that brings meaning to your life and to the lives of those around you.

This time that I carve out for myself is what I call soulful work. I know that when I do soulful work, I am able to bring my best to all areas of my life. A big part of this soulful work is about taking care to nourish my mind, my body, and my curious spirit.

A quick trip to a nearby ridge was just what I needed to be still, to see the beauty of the earth, and to just enjoy being right where I am.

Dare To Be Powerful

Jlynn Frazier

When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid.
— Audre Lorde

Happy International Women's Day! Today seemed like a good day to send this out into the world.

Dare to be powerful.

Own every last inch of who you are. When you think you cannot go just a little bit farther, do it anyway. Be brave. I'll back you up and be there when you need me. Be as you are because you are beautiful.

Create. Live your joy. Share your passion and compassion. Tell your stories of triumph and struggle. Listen to your body, to your intuition, and stay close to nature.

Dare to be powerful.

A Final Thought To Close Out 2016

Jlynn Frazier

I have seen and heard so much yuckiness that many have shared as they cursed the world and so much of 2016. Here's the thing. Each and every year brings with it moments that take my breathe away. I have laughed until I cried. I have cried until I laughed. Through all of the winding twists of this year's river, I look back feeling grateful to have been here for it all.

I am keeping everyone in my thoughts and I truly hope that those seeking it find the peace and calm that they are hoping the world will bring as the clock ticks, the ball drops, and we cheer Happy New Year.

Whether you do or not, I hope you will remember that each minute of each and every day is a chance to be you, live your adventure life, and do something that matters to you.

We all matter and we all have so many amazing gifts to share. It may not always seem like we are doing enough, but doing something that matters is enough.

I look back on 2016, I remember today (and the above image that I created while on backcountry skis for the first time), and I look out toward 2017 filled with inner peace.

Many thanks and warm wishes to my friends near and far who have supported and followed my work. I hope you will continue to join me in choosing to see the beauty of this amazing world each moment, of every day, and throughout the year!
