Keep Climbing

Jlynn Frazier

Another chance
sun rises
climb, climb, climb

I have been in the habit lately of taking a minute to lay in bed by myself. Jared stumbles down the stairs and puts the kettle on. The dogs are jumping around and often barking with excitement for the day, that we are awake to give them attention, and perhaps most importantly...breakfast!

Until the kettle whistles, beckoning me downstairs to fill the french presses with water and coffee, I have a few minutes to set my intention for the day. I often take the opportunity to do a light stretch and seated yoga poses. It is also a time for me to intentionally begin with gratitude.

How we live our days is really how we live our lives. The first moments of the morning can really get me in a good state of body, mind, and soul to carry me through the day.

There is no shortage of violence and chaos in the world. It is so easy to get sucked in and down by it. Some days are easier than others, but I remind myself that today is another day. I'm here! Living breathing matter on earth amidst a big beautiful universe. Today is another chance for me to bring something positive and beautiful, loving and kind into the world.

Guess what? It's another day for you too. I'm excited to connect with you and follow your journey as you bring your gifts into the world today. We need you. We need your art. We need your creativity. We need your smile, your laugh. We need you to show up just as you are and live your truth.

School Zone

Jlynn Frazier

Every day, twice a day, when I enter a school zone I hit the brakes to reduce my speed to 15 MPH (the posted “school zone” sign). It’s not easy to slow down when I have been zooming right along. Though once I do, I almost feel like I am floating along.

The world looks different when I slow down. I notice the children waiting at a nearby bus stop. The way the sun shines and the clouds moving overhead. Sometimes I roll down the window, even when it is below freezing. Just to smell the scent of the morning air.

What if we did this in our every day, twice a day?

It’s so easy to just begin another day, zooming along and getting things done. Time, not to pause, but to slow down and float along, to see the days tasks (and the world) differently, how might that be of value to your day.

A bit of a recap of what I have been up to, what I'm working on, what's inspiring me, and anything else I want to include. This year, I'm owning this space and giving myself full creative freedom.

January Recap: Celebrations, Creativity, & Connection

Welcome February

Can you believe it's February and we are a whole month into 2018!!! How's it going? Did you hear whether or not Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow?

January causes a heck of a lot of commotion about resolutions, eh! Where are you at?... Did you start off the year with a bang and feeling a bit tired today? Or perhaps you started quietly and are going momentum? Whether you are rocking resolutions, flowing to your own rhythm and flow, or in planning and incubation mode, remember that today is a new day (and a new month) to begin again.

As I have mentioned, I do not set new years resolutions anymore. I am, however, a big believer in doing work that matters. To do this, I set intentions for the year and map my progress in my Weekly Desire Map Planner by Danielle LaPorte (YES, PAPER!!!), a daily intention and gratitude practice, I set priorities and track them for the month, and I schedule what's important on my calendar.

This month, I'm tracking 5 things that I am committing to do daily. As Gretchen Rubin said in her book The Happiness Project "What you do every day matters more than what you do once in a while.”My thought is that if I do these 5 things every day, I will feel good, nourished, and consider the day a great success. They are read, write, run, yoga, and gratitude. They are already scheduled into my calendar for each day for the month.

Also, engaging in work that matters which includes continuing my reading frenzy, writing (and sharing more here... split of excited and terrified), working on a photo project which I think will be a book project (its emerging), and working on learning to ski.

To wrap this up, I began starting with commotions. February is Black History Month and the commoditization of love also known as Valentine's Day. I like to think of it as a great time to remember to take time for self-love, because if you don't love and take care of you, you cannot spread love to others.
